The world is VERY little

It's amazing... Simply AMAZING!
Today I was attending a (very boring) training course at IMEC. We were in a dozen, more or less. Mostly chinese/Japanese/indians/... and two other guys "european style".
At the end of the meeting I heard them talking in italian... a nice surprise but not so difficult find italian people abroad.
Then we started to talk about where we come from and stuff like that....
Well, the guy come from Milan (and I discovered that we'll play poker together tonight), nothing in particular..
*BUT*
the girl... she just started her PhD (one week ago). The AMAZING thing is that she come from Udine!!!! My home town!!!
Actually from the other side of the town but that's still ok. It's a small town...
Even surprising she was born in the same year and in the same month of myself!!!!

A very nice coincidence :)

Mijn slaapkamer

E per finire la "camera", che fa anche da studio, sala da pranzo, e tante altre cose....

Mijn badkamer

Let's continue the tour around my studio.
Today is the time for the bathroom, with the oh-so-nice basket for the laundry :)

Smakelijk!

Ok, last time you saw my kitchen, and some of you was wondering how it is possible "to cook nice Italian food!?!?"
And so once or twice I prepared the table like if I had a guest (if you prefer, you may think that the guest was myself).

ENJOY YOUR MEAL!

[The second picture isn't very nice, but I like the lights and shadows]

Mijn keuken!

Just a picture of my kitchen... and of course usually every cupboard is closed :)

In the following days other pictures of my place.

Leuven's Life - part 4

Leuven's Life - part 3

After one week I've to say that the future developments of my subject might become really interesting.

Well, are you wondering which is my topic. To be very easy: you put silicon in a furnace, you put on top a layer of metal, you cold down fast and - as different dilatation coefficient - the silicon cracks! Cracks in a thin layer (around 50 thousandth of a millimeter) and this will be (after some processing) a solar cell.
I just to start to understand the organization of IMEC, my collegues, what I HAVE TO do, what I may do, and what I'm not allowed to do.

Just a curiosity: I sign the contract with the university. Here the salary is indexed, and so depends from inflaction and similar. I first ask to a person that said me an amount, than to another that said me an higher amount, and then to another one said me also higher... well... I started from 1500 and I'm yet arrived to 1750 netto. Do you think that if I countinue to ask people I'll reach 2000?!?

The truth is that - like in Italy - the bureaucracy is very high. In particular 'cause two different institution are involved. But also none knows how much I'll got paid. I've to wait the end of october to have just an idea (special refund, not the whole month worked, ...), and the end of november to have a definitve answer to my wondering...

Leuven's Life - part 2

It's very VERY difficult explain what happened the moment I left my dad at the security check...
Suddenly I felt a strange weight over myself, a sense of deep lonelyness, a kind of desolation...

WHAT AM I DOING HERE?!?

I never ever felt those feelings and emotions before.

And I start to cry, and when you drive isn't the best thing might happen.

I arrived in my new, cold, unfamiliar home and I fall asleep again.

I woke up around 10 and I read a letter that my brother, secretely, put in my bag. "To read after dad left" was written on top. It was a letter full of fondness and care about what I'm gonna to start. There was also included two pictures of me and my brother when we were kids, in particular one...

And I cryed again, and also now that I'm writing these rows, I'm crying again.
I'm laughing of myself :D

Leuven's Life - part 1

Here again... yes!
The travel from Italy was gone pretty well. A lot of traffic, in Germany, as usual. Me and my father stopped then a night to our friend JeanMarc in Strasbourg.
A very nice city, for sure to visit again with more time and calm.

The first day - that was also the day of my birthday - it was pretty funny that, just after bring into my room all my baggage, we fall in sleep.

The day after I started to going around to enroll myself to the university, namely KUL, go to the bank to open an account, to buy a new mobile SIM and so on... meanwhile my dear dad help me (actually I help him as he did most of the work!) to clean the house.

On saturday we made a long walking around the city... the arenberg castle, IMEC of course, the beghinhof, Oude Markt and the City Hall, Ladeuzenplein with the library and "the bug"... and soon was arrived sunday morning. VERY morning as we woke up around 4AM to go to the airport for the flight to go back in Italy.

Leuven...AGAIN!

I'm arrived in Leuven. I'm OK.
And from today onwards I'm (AGAIN!) a student of the KUL :)

No time now, but soon I'll write more to you all!

All the best

I have a new house...

Of course, not "mine", just rented a new house....
After one whole day of bad studios, small and/or dirty I found a couple very nice.
The one I choose - a bit more furnitued than the other with internet also included in the rent - is in tervuursestraat.
Well, my erasmus friend maybe knows where it is, but for one in particular that street has a meaning.
If I add the number is 117 and the appartment is the number 24.... well.... now he is making a jump on the chair ;)
The flat I rented is the same that was rented from my dear canadian friend just three years ago!

A coincidence?!?!? I don´t believe in them....

Just a funny thing maybe with some obscure meaning behind :)

Tomorrow I´ll sign the contract and before the middle of october I´ll move.

Kinda of excitement to begin something new, kinda of scare to begin something unknown.

Take care everybody!!!

Ritorno in Romagna

Buon fine settimana a tutti i lettori!

[I'm sure there are at least two dear friend that cheking every one and then my blog :)]
